 कारगिलचे शौर्यगाथा : प्रहारच्या प्रांगणात अवतरला वीर जवानांचा अमर त्याग;

 'त्या' थरारक आठवणींनी उपस्थितांचे डोळे पाणावले!

 

नागपूर: २६ जुलै १९९९... बर्फाच्छादित, अत्यंत दुर्गम आणि उंच अशा कारगिलच्या शिखरांवर एका बाजूला शत्रूचा बेछूट गोळीबार आणि दुसऱ्या बाजूला केवळ आणि केवळ मायभूमीच्या रक्षणाची ध्यास! भारतीय सैन्याने आपल्या प्राणांची बाजी लावून मिळवलेल्या त्याच ऐतिहासिक विजयाची गाथा  रविनगर येथील प्रहार मिलिटरी स्कूलमध्ये पुनरुज्जीवित झाली.

'अमर जवान' स्मारकासमोर जेव्हा पुष्पचक्र अर्पण करण्यात आले आणि बिगुलच्या करुण स्वरांसोबत सैनिकांची सलामी झाली, तेव्हा संपूर्ण प्रांगणात एक गलबलवून टाकणारी शांतता पसरली.

या सोहळ्याचा सर्वात भावूक क्षण ठरला तो म्हणजे कारगिल युद्धात प्रत्यक्ष मृत्यूशी दोन हात करून विजयश्री खेचून आणणारे निवृत्त ब्रिगेडियर सुनील गावपांडे, निवृत्त लेफ्टनंट राजीव पाटील आणि लेफ्टनंट कर्नल सिद्धार्थ आलूवालीया यांची उपस्थिती! जेव्हा या वीरांचा सन्मानचिन्ह देऊन सत्कार करण्यात आला, तेव्हा टाळ्यांच्या कडकडाटासोबतच अनेकांच्या डोळ्यांतून अश्रू तरळले.

विद्यार्थ्यांशी संवाद साधताना या शौर्यवंतांनी जेव्हा कारगिल युद्धातील ते थरारक प्रसंग मांडले—आपल्या डोळ्यांसमोर धारातीर्थी पडलेले सहकारी सैनिक, रक्ताने माखलेली ती बर्फाळ भूमी आणि तरीही 'भारत माता की जय' म्हणत पुढे जाणारे पाऊल... हे ऐकताना सभागृहातील प्रत्येक नागरिकाचा आणि विद्यार्थ्याचा कंठ ठासून आला आणि डोळ्यांतून कृतज्ञतेच्या अश्रुधारा वाहू लागल्या.

शाळेच्या बँड पथकाचे दिमाखदार स्वागत, विद्यार्थ्यांचे देशभक्तीपर गीत, नृत्य आणि कराटेच्या थरारक प्रात्यक्षिकांनी वातावरण देशप्रेमाने भारावून टाकले. सी. पी. अँड बेरार एज्युकेशन सोसायटीचे पदाधिकारी, प्राचार्या वंदना कुलकर्णी व इतर मान्यवरांच्या उपस्थितीत पार पडलेल्या या सोहळ्याची सांगता राष्ट्रगीताने झाली.

'आपण सुरक्षित राहावे म्हणून सीमेवर कुणीतरी आपले प्राण पणाला लावत आहे', या जाणिवेने प्रत्येक उपस्थिताचे मन आदराने झुकले आणि कारगिलच्या अमर शहीदांच्या बलिदानाला भावपूर्ण सलाम करण्यात आला.

Saga of Kargil's Valor: Immortal Sacrifice of Brave Soldiers Honored at Prahar; Stirring Memories Leave Audience Teary-Eyed!

Nagpur: July 26, 1999... Amidst snow-capped, treacherous, and towering peaks of Kargil, relentless enemy gunfire raged on one side, while an unwavering resolve to protect the motherland burned on the other. The saga of that historic victory, achieved by the Indian Armed Forces at the cost of supreme sacrifice, came alive at Prahar Military School, Ravinagar.

As a wreath was laid at the 'Amar Jawan' memorial accompanied by the poignant notes of the bugle and a solemn salute by the soldiers, a deeply moving silence swept across the entire premises.

The most emotional moment of the ceremony was the presence of Kargil War veterans—Brigadier Sunil Gawpande (Retd.), Lieutenant Rajiv Patil (Retd.), and Lieutenant Colonel Siddharth Aluwalia—who fought death on the frontlines to capture victory. As these heroes were honored with mementos, thunderous applause blended with tears in the eyes of many.

Interacting with the students, the bravehearts shared harrowing accounts of the war—comrades falling on the battlefield before their eyes, snow stained with blood, yet stepping forward with the battle cry of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'... Listening to these vivid encounters left every heart heavy and eyes brimming with tears of gratitude.

A grand welcome by the school band, patriotic songs, dance performances, and thrilling karate demonstrations by the students filled the air with deep national pride. The event, attended by office bearers of C. P. & Berar Education Society, Principal Vandana Kulkarni, and other dignitaries, concluded with the National Anthem.

Carrying the profound realization that someone guards our borders so we may live safely, every head bowed in respect as a heartfelt salute was paid to the immortal sacrifice of Kargil’s martyrs.
